Outstanding properties of Industrial Fluoropolymer Coating

opi-nonstickNonstick – Very few solid substances will permanently adhere to an industrial fluoropolymer coating coated finish. Although tacky materials may show some adhesion, almost all substances release easily.

opi-frictionLow coefficient of friction – The coefficient of friction of industrial fluoropolymer coating is generally in the range of 0.05 to 0.20, depending on the load, sliding speed, and particular industrial fluoropolymer coating coating used.

opi-nonwettingNonwetting – Since surfaces coated with industrial fluoropolymer coatings are both oleophobic and hydrophobic, they are not readily wetted. Cleanup is easier and more thorough – in many cases, surfaces are self-cleaning.

opi-heatHeat resistance – Industrial fluoropolymer coatings can operate continuously at temperatures up to 260ºc/500ºf and can be used for intermittent service up to 316ºc/600ºf with adequate ventilation.

opi-electricalUnique electrical properties – Over a wide range of frequencies, industrial fluoropolymer coating has high electric strength, low dissipation factor, and very high surface resistivity. By special techniques, it can even be made electro conductive enough to be used as an anti-static coating.

opi-chemicalChemical resistance – Industrial fluoropolymer coating is normally unaffected by chemical environments. The only chemicals known to affect all industrial fluoropolymer coatings are molten alkali metals and highly reactive fluorinating agents.

opi-cryogenicCryogenic stability – Many industrial fluoropolymer coatings withstand severe temperature extremes without loss of physical properties.  Fluoropolymer industrial coatings may be used at temperatures as low as -270ºc/-454ºf.

What are Industrial Fluoropolymer Coatings?

Industrial fluoropolymer coatings are specially formulated finishes that are based on PTFE, PFA, FEP, and ETFE fluorocarbon resins.

By combining heat resistance with almost total chemical inertness, excellent dielectric stability, and a low coefficient of friction, industrial fluoropolymer coating offer a balance of properties unbeatable by any other material.  Industrial products made with industrial fluoropolymer coatings have exceptional resistance to high temperatures, chemical reaction, corrosion, and stress-cracking.

Fluoropolymer industrial coatings can be used on carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, steel alloys, brass and magnesium as well as on non-metallics such as glass, fiberglass and plastics. Due to its low friction, it is used for applications (such as plain bearings, gears, slide plates, etc.) where sliding action of parts is needed.
